Dovetail Custom Wood & Metal fabricates millwork, metal and stone for corporate tenant improvements, including reception desks, conference rooms, pantries and feature walls. The work is built at its shop in Del Valle, Texas, near Austin, for general contractors and architects on projects across the United States. Projects include TikTok, Norton Rose Fulbright, Unity and Travis Tower.
What does Dovetail build for corporate interiors?
At TikTok, each elevator corridor has a tambour wall with a metal top cap, an elevator surround, radiused door portals and a rippled ceiling, and each Phase 1 floor has a print room, a breakroom with a stone-topped island and a wellness or mothers room. At Norton Rose Fulbright, Dovetail made the reception desk and a fin wall of wood panels that carries the firm's lettering, plus a coffee bar on floor 11 and casework in the pantry, breakroom and copy rooms.
How are multi-floor and phased tenant improvements managed?
Dovetail splits large office scopes into releases that match how the space is built. TikTok ran as two jobs: Phase 1 covered Levels 27, 28, 29 and 32, and Phase 2 covered Levels 30 and 31. Splunk in Plano was done in two phases, Levels 6 to 8 first and Level 3 later. Workrise was the second phase of the Rigup job, covering levels 12 and 13. At Travis Tower, work moved as numbered release packages, one per room or area.
How does Dovetail handle scope changes and finish samples?
Norton Rose Fulbright was set up for Premium grade construction, with testing, mock-ups and samples in spring 2024 before room-by-room production. The scope then changed through a drawing bulletin and numbered change orders, including revisions to the south coffee bar, added appliance panels and a printer pull-out at reception. At Unity, work was released room by room, with white oak samples, a panel mockup and a window frame mockup.
Which materials show up in office work?
Office scopes mix materials freely. TikTok uses white oak tambour and polished stainless steel ripple panels. Unity includes white oak base moulding, blackened steel doors, brass letters and stone countertops. Atmosphere TV centers on powder-coated steel screens and planters, with wood and stone in the wellness center. Norton Rose Fulbright combines stain-grade wood panels, plastic laminate cabinets and stone countertops. Dovetail builds all of it in house.
