Dovetail fabricated the architectural millwork, metalwork and stone for Atmosphere TV, a corporate tenant improvement project in Austin, Texas, built by general contractor NOVO Construction with architect Chioco Design. Dovetail's scope centered on metal screens and planters, with associated millwork and stone, across two office floors and a wellness center. Production ran into early 2024.
What did Dovetail build at Atmosphere TV?
The core of the scope is metal: freestanding screens with planter boxes, perforated panels, coil frames, planters on legs, arched jambs, a steel entry surround, handrails and wall cladding. The office floors, labeled level 2 and level 3, include screens and planters, with planters in suites 2300, 2350, 2400 and 2450. In the wellness center, Dovetail made the welcome desk in wood and stone, break area casework with a stone island top and splash, vanity boxes and tops in the utility and quiet rooms, and stone benches in the two sauna rooms.
Materials and finishes
Screens and planters are powder-coated steel. Cladding, handrails and shelf supports are painted steel. Wood pieces include rift white oak screen walls and planters, white oak panels, and wellness center base in painted pine and in a fir and white oak mix. Planter inserts are plastic laminate. Dovetail's metal shop finishes with paint, powder coat, patina and blackened steel.
How was the work delivered?
Samples covered office metal, a second metal finish and painted hardware. Production was organized by screen, planter and room, and most of the screen and planter work was finished between June and September 2023.
