Our Story
Dovetail Custom Wood & Metal was founded with a bold vision: to push the boundaries of architectural fabrication and prove the extraordinary can be achieved. The story is rooted in founder Isaac Alexander’s lifelong passion for craftsmanship, which began at age five on a farm near Austin, Texas. From carving spoons for local markets to opening his first shop in his twenties, Isaac built a foundation of perseverance that would define Dovetail’s culture. Named after the enduring woodworking joint, Dovetail represents craftsmanship and durability. To this day, every cabinet drawer box produced by the company features dovetail joinery, a hallmark of strength and longevity.
Since its founding in 2014, Dovetail has grown into one of the largest commercial wood, metal, and stone fabricators in the Southwest. What began as a single shop has evolved into a company where wood, metal, and stone are brought together under one roof, creating possibilities that once seemed out of reach.. Investments in technology and the growth of a talented team have pushed the company forward, but it is the culture of collaboration and innovation that has truly defined its success.
At its core, Dovetail remains driven by a simple belief: that what once seemed unachievable can not only be accomplished, but crafted with excellence.
