What we self-perform
- Wood. Custom millwork in materials from plastic laminate to exotic hardwoods: cabinetry, casework, shelving, storage, furniture, wall paneling (indoor and outdoor), ceilings, leather paneling and other architectural applications.
- Metal. Architectural and ornamental metalwork in hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, mesh and perforated metals: stairs, railings, storefronts, custom doors, exterior screens, trellises, shade structures and similar work.
- Stone. Natural stone, quartz and marble: countertops, fireplace surrounds, wall cladding and desk wraps. Digital templating, milling and thermoforming of quartz, and Slabsmith technology to align veining across slabs.
- Engineering and drafting. Shop drawings and engineering in Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, Revit and AutoCAD, built to AWI standards.
- Finishing. In-house finishing with a mixology lab, three spray booths, a drying area and a quality control checkpoint. Metal finishes include paint, powder coating, patinas and blackened steel.
- Installation. Dovetail delivery crews and installation teams, supervised by Dovetail superintendents and coordinated with our project managers and production managers. Superintendents run daily onsite safety toolbox talks.

A complete invitation helps our estimating team get started right away.
- Drawings: the full set, or at minimum the sheets that show millwork, metal and stone.
- Specifications: the sections that cover the work, plus any general requirements that apply to it.
- Bid date and time, and the delivery method for the proposal.
- Scope notes: which trades you want priced (wood, metal, stone, installation) and any alternates or phasing.
- Any addenda, and the name and contact information of the GC estimator.
What you get back
- A written proposal that states the scope included, exclusions and clarifications.
- Questions on the drawings and specs raised before the bid date, so they can be answered by addendum.
