Dovetail fabricated the architectural millwork, metalwork and stone for Sixth and Guadalupe, a tower amenities project in Austin, Texas. JE Dunn was the general contractor and Gensler the architect. Most of the work shipped in 2023 and 2024.
Scope
The work reaches from Level 1 up to Level 66. On Level 1, the residential lobby has a leasing desk in wood, stone and metal, plus wall cabinets, wall panels, a mail room, a package center and a bike room, and the office lobby has a reception desk. Level 14 has a mothers room, and Level 33 has a dog wash with stone.
Level 34 holds a club room with banquettes, an island and a fireplace, a boxing room and restrooms. Its pool deck has steel walls, planters, grill counters, an IPE wall and cabanas. Level 35 leasing, Level 53 and the Level 66 sky lounge add cabinets in wood, metal and stone, and the sky lounge also has fireplaces and wine lockers. Penthouse kitchens and bathrooms on Levels 61 to 65 have cabinets and stone.
Materials
IPE was used for the pool deck wall, steel appears in planters, walls and edging, and the wood work carries stains labeled WD-1A and WD-2. Red oak veneer and Texas walnut are also part of the wood work.
Packages
The building ran as two jobs under JE Dunn: the core, shell and amenities package, and a separate penthouse package. Mock-ups covered a vanity, a steel planter and wall panels. Drafting was released by level.
