44 East amenity lounge with a wood feature wall, green chairs and floor-to-ceiling windows

Dovetail fabricated the architectural millwork and stone for 44 East, a tower amenities project in Austin, Texas, built by general contractor Flintco Construction with architect Page Southerland Page and designer Michael Hsu. The work spans the lobby level and the amenity floors at levels 11 and 37, and its dated production completions run from March 2022 to April 2023.

What did Dovetail build at 44 East?

The scope is organized by level. Level 1 has a mail room, a coffee bar with wall panels, elevator lobby paneling and touch-up work on the lobby desk. Level 11 includes the great room, with a wood island and a wall panel assembly with cabinets, plus a TV wall, a game room screen and the resident kitchen panels. On level 37, Dovetail built the conference and dining room panels and ceiling, a bar with an island, a kitchen island and conference room top, and hall paneling. Metal elevator door jambs were made for levels 1, 11 and 37.

Which materials and finishes are at 44 East?

White oak appears by name in the samples and plain-sawn lumber, ipe in the level 37 tongue-and-groove ceiling finishing, and maple in finish strips. Tops are a mix of stone and solid surface. Metal pieces include a polished aluminum desk base, polished chrome strips, in-wall brackets and the elevator jambs.

How was the work delivered?

Mock-ups included a great room island and finish mock-ups for levels 11 and 37. Stone work covered the level 37 kitchen island and the level 1 coffee bar, and a punch list closed in spring 2023.
