Dovetail fabricated the architectural millwork and metalwork for the Moody Center, a sports project in Austin, Texas, built by general contractor AECOM Hunt with architect Gensler. The work reached the Event Level, the 100 Main Concourse, the 200 Suite Level, a mezzanine and the 300 Upper Concourse. Work was scheduled across 2021 and 2022.
What did Dovetail build at the Moody Center?
The job reads like a room-by-room list of the venue. On the Event Level it covers the Establishment Club: bars, buffets, hostess stand, trim, column wraps and brass shelving. On the 100 Main Concourse it covers the Sideline Clubs North and South (bars, drink rails, wall panels), a private lounge and concession bars. The 200 Suite Level adds porch and sideline suite cabinets, drink rails, and loge bars and buffets. The 300 Upper Concourse brings bar and concession counters with their ceilings. Point-of-sale stations, pour stations and restroom vanity frames were each released as separate pieces of work.
Materials and finishes
Materials include plain sliced white oak and walnut veneer, Texas post oak tongue-and-groove, blackened steel, bronze sheet, perforated carbon steel and powder-coated stainless steel. Stone countertops, drink rail tops and thresholds appear too.
How was the work delivered?
The job included many finish samples, mockups, remakes and punch-list items. Dovetail also built a point-of-sale mockup and a metal corner mockup. Dovetail's drafters work in Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, Revit and AutoCAD and build to AWI standards.
