# About Dovetail: Wood, Metal and Stone Since 2014

Dovetail Custom Wood & Metal, founded in 2014 by Isaac Alexander, fabricates wood, metal and stone for commercial projects. Meet the leadership team.

## Our Story

Dovetail Custom Wood & Metal engineers, fabricates, finishes and installs architectural millwork, metal and stone for commercial projects across the United States from its shop in Del Valle, Texas, near Austin. The company was founded in 2014. The story is rooted in founder Isaac Alexander’s lifelong passion for craftsmanship, which began at age five on a farm near Austin, Texas. From carving spoons for local markets to opening his first shop in his twenties, Isaac built a foundation of perseverance that would define Dovetail’s culture. Named after the enduring woodworking joint, Dovetail represents craftsmanship and durability. To this day, every cabinet drawer box produced by the company features dovetail joinery, a hallmark of strength and longevity.

Since its founding in 2014, Dovetail has grown to 160 people in a 110,000 sq. ft. facility, building commercial wood, metal and stone for projects across the United States. What began as a single shop has evolved into a company where wood, metal, and stone are brought together under one roof, creating possibilities that once seemed out of reach. Investments in technology and the growth of a talented team have pushed the company forward, but it is the culture of collaboration and innovation that has truly defined its success.
